Writing Center tutors are educators and writers who value learning, writing, and working with students. They come from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds and include:

  • Experienced educators familiar with teaching college composition and ELL courses

  • Current and former SBCC students who have taken courses online and in-person

  • UCSB graduate students with experience writing in many disciplines

  • Trained counselors, therapists, and academic support specialists

  • Creative and professional writers with a history of teaching, tutoring, and publication
